CANCERCARE, NORTH LANCASHIRE AND SOUTH LAKELAND (MARCH 2007)
The Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation has donated £3,000 to CancerCare in North Lancashire and South Lakeland to fund the upgrade of their computer services . The upgrade of the computer services will benefit not only the cancer patients but also their families too, meaning that they can have access to the internet for free as and when they like.
CancerCare was formed in 1983 and became a charity in 1985; it is now the largest local cancer support service in the UK, providing free support to cancer patients and their families. Over 15,000 therapy sessions are offered each year to the local population of North Lancashire and South Lakeland .
Chris Ashby, public affairs co-ordinator, commented, “The help of organisations like the Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation is very important to us and emphasises the place we hold in the local community.”
Neil Grantham, branch manager of Skipton's Kendal branch, on behalf of the Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation, added, “It's fantastic that we have been able to help a cause that is so close to all of our hearts. Cancer affects so many people and so it is vital that organisations such as CancerCare receive the funding that they need, so that the service they offer can continue to help thousands more. Our Charitable Foundation aims to make a real difference to people's lives and any registered charities that are looking for help can pick up an application form from their nearest Skipton branch.” |
