HANDICAPPED CHILDREN'S ACTION GROUP, LONDON (OCTOBER 2007)
The Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation has donated £3,200 to the Handicapped Children's Action Group to fund a lilo hoist for the William Morris special needs school based in London . The hoist will be used to aid the students when using a range of specialist equipment, which will not only benefit the children but the staff as well.
Handicapped Children's Action Group is a registered charity established in 1988 which raises funds to provide specialist equipment for disabled children from low-income families. The NHS does not supply such tools, so the charity aims to present disabled children, from all areas of the UK, with the opportunity of independence and mobility. The equipment enables the children to be more active and offers them the chance to have as normal life as possible.
Carole Davies, administrator, commented, " As a small group we are inundated with requests for help and unfortunately it usually comes down to lack of funds preventing us from helping all who apply. When an organisation such as the Skipton Building Society responds so quickly and so generously to one of our appeals it is so very much appreciated. I know that the equipment provided will be so beneficial to both pupils and staff of the William Morris School and we are delighted that we have been able to provide this essential item of equipment in such a short space of time."
Steve Knight, branch manager of Skipton's Holborn branch, on behalf of the Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation, added, "We are delighted to have been able to donate to such a worthy cause and hope that the children will really benefit from the lilo hoist. Our Charitable Foundation aims to make a real difference to people's lives and any registered charities that are looking for help can pick up an application form from their nearest Skipton branch."
