SCRUTON PRE-SCHOOL, NORTHALLERTON (APRIL 2007)
The Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation has donated £1,000 to Scruton Pre-School in Northallerton to fund the purchase of a ramp, to enable easy access for disabled children.
Scruton Pre-School caters for up to 40 children aged two up to school age. The group is a registered charity, which was set up by a committee of parents. The school has recently been allocated new premises where they have been able to take over a vacant classroom at Ainderby Steeple School . The new classroom was in need of a certain amount of modernisation and also required the installation of disabled access.
Louise Stiles, fundraiser at Scruton Pre-School, commented, "Without the help of organisations like the Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation we wouldn't have been able to carry out the vital work that was needed for the pre-school to operate. We are extremely grateful for its generous donation which has enabled us to install a ramp for our disabled children."
Julie Pennington, branch manager of Skipton's Northallerton branch, on behalf of the Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation, added, "It's fantastic that we have been able to help a cause that is so close to the hearts of everyone in this close-knit community. Being a parent myself I know how important it is to be able to offer your children the best start in life and so I am thrilled we have been able to help fund this project. Our Charitable Foundation aims to make a real difference to people's lives and any registered charities that are looking for help can pick up an application form from their nearest Skipton branch." |
